The inaugural volume of KEMA’s Utility of the Future guidebook series, “Directions for enhancing sustainability, reliability and profitability,” examines a vision of the utility of the future that is organized and managed much more like high-tech product and services companies—operating in a multi-player ecology of business with shifting roles.

 

The volume offers strategy alternatives and implementation roadmaps for different aspects of the Utility of the Future. Leveraging KEMA’s perspectives and anticipating the direction of change, the guidebook provides insight into the strategic choices required to address new dimensions and stages of the industry’s evolution. The guide includes provocative arguments to motivate the utility of the future vision—drawing caparisons with other industries that have faced similar radical transformation.

This guidebook is an outgrowth of strategy work KEMA has undertaken for major utilities and other key energy industry suppliers. KEMA has partnered with progressive utility organizations around the world. This volume reflects the ideas and conclusions drawn in countless hours of discussion with the leadership of these companies.
